My amazing friends at Target Audience Magazine asked me to write a short editorial piece on my novel Otherwise Perfect. It was a good chance for me to explain why I wrote a story centered on a character who is suffering from depression. This novel started out as a short story back in 2006, and writing it helped me through the worst depression I’ve ever experienced. It was therapeutic to write, and honestly I never thought I’d publish it. It was a story I wrote for myself, to turn the pain I was feeling into something real, but in time it became much more than that.
